Poem: Thirst
Published 1 year, 11 months ago in My life.Thirst
There’s no such thing as angels
He dipped his toe in the water
And found me waiting there for him
We played tennis; but no love
He peeled me off his skin like a leech
I bled as he slithered away
I wander the icy streets alone at night
And it’s Christmas in every window
Even their tears make me thirsty.

Thirst
There’s no such thing as angels
He dipped his toe in the water
And found me waiting there for him
We played tennis; but no love
He peeled me off his skin like a leech
I bled as he slithered away
I wander the icy streets alone at night

Even their tears make me thirsty.

Are angels there, sit and stare.
In the air, no it’s bare
There again, do i dare
We flew together, but not in flight
together as one, but it wasnt right.
I slid back, into darkness of night.
I sit, and think, am on the brink
All happy and gay, and lots of drink
And yet i am dry, and my heart does sink
Hey chaos, i just aint a poet, but i try
Aww, you are a poet! That’s good… I especially like “we flew together, but not in flight”. That’s really poetic
I guess i was thinking of your unwritten words when that came to me.
Curious, my effort was started and finished in about two minutes. I am a splurger, and dont agonise at all.
Obvious question… how long?
That poem took maybe ten or twenty minutes… but I had thought of bits of it over a few days, as I remember… I’ll be walking to work, and I’ll think about something, and I’ll get a good idea for a line in a poem, so I’ll keep it in my head, and think about it more, and by the end of the day, I’ll have quite a few ideas.
Generally if a poem doesn’t flow when I’m writing it, it isn’t much worth writing. You have to have fun writing it!
Random question… you live near Boronia, right? I looked at a close-up picture of Shadow on your website, and I think I may have seen him before… have you been to Animal World Boronia (the pet shop next to the newsagent)? I think my boyfriend talked to someone with a husky that looks very similar to Shadow there… (although Huskies tend to look somewhat similar to each other anyway)…
Yep, FTG, and yep on annimal world. Shadow often goes into that shop to look at the babies in the glass cages. They arent afraid until they get into the real world
In fact, his and my day start at McDonalds in Boronia, then we walk up through the railway car park, and up the shops on Boronia rd. We turn down at annimal world, and go past the get fresh butcher, NQR, and the bakeries and stuff.
Hey, there are lots of good smells, and plenty of pats for shadow. He loves the attention, and obviously, he needs the walking.
Random question backatya
U said u part time at a butchers, have you seen us on our above mentioned travels.

I think so! I work part-time at Get Fresh Meats, and I think I’ve seen you and Shadow near the shops there a couple of times.
How cool.
How cool- yep, another freudian slip. Shadow the snow dog.
Are you into Jung, Rogers, Freud…
Hehe… well spotted!
I do like psychology, it’s one of my subjects at uni, but I’m not much good at remembering who’s theory is who’s (although it’s pretty easy to remember which ones are Freud’s!). I found a good book on psych was The Man Who Mistook His Wife For A Hat (by Oliver Sacks). It’s a bit clinical, but the stories are amazing.
Hey Chaos, that well spotted freudian was tooooo easy.
I think, like me, you are a bit of a smarty party. Some thigs are just too obvious.
I checked out your elftown blog. I LOVE YOUR WORK.
Any tips for a 5o year old chap, who is computer literate, and a bit of a wizz on most things technical, but, pardon the pun, have DRAWN a blank on photo shop.
Psych 101 was a bit boring, laws of probability, expiremental effects, and that dam pavlovian dog…
I will check out that book Have admired Sack’s work, especially with aldopeamean (spelliing?)

Hehehe! Smarty party! That’s good. Yeah, I like to think I’m clever… but then again, I can’t do even the simplest maths without a calculator, so it kind of balances out.
Yep, you definitely know psych… “all rats and stats”… although unfortunately not even rats these days! X(
:D You read my blog! Thanks! (speaking of which, I haven’t written in there for ages… Nook has sort of surpassed Elftown in fun lately, and hence my blog has been a bit neglected).
Aww, photoshop’s easy… the secret is that you don’t have to know everything about it to be able to do cool photomanips. Just paste the photo into photoshop, and experiment with random filters and brightness/contrast alterations on it… e.g. I had a look at that photo you took of the hillside with people and I think a pond or something (I’m not sure whereabouts it is) that was a bit too bright-looking, and I just turned up the contrast. Instantly, all these colours like purple, blue, green, grey and yellow jumped out!
Becoming “good” with photoshop for me was just playing with filters… my favourites are difference clouds and lighting effects (under Render), accented edges (under brush strokes), median (under noise), gaussian blur and glowing edges (under Stylise).
You can also use the paintbrush to do things other than solid colour… you can change the opacity of the paintbrush, and the mode (I like hue, overlay and difference as modes), and then use it on a photo.
Also, thankfully, I discovered that you don’t just get “one undo”… (ctrl z), you have multiple undos, they’re just called “step backwards” (ctrl alt z). So if you don’t like a filter, it’s easy to fix.
