Writer’s Block
Published 1 year, 11 months ago in My life.Writer’s Block
Writer’s block and thinker’s block
So the good can start, the great must stop
I scream all the words I’ve always said
I press all the buttons but they’re dead
All the things I’m all about…
They’re locked down and I’m locked out
And despite all my futile hoping
I turn the handle, but the door won’t open
So I can breathe, I must not eat
So I can live, I must not sleep
So I can walk, I must not stand
So I can reach, I cut off my hands
Choose the sun, and get no rain
Choose to be numb and feel no pain
Choose to be blind and hear no sound
Choose to be wise, and turn around
Stone cold words from a matching heart
So the bad can stop, the worse must start
I have the wings, but still can’t fly
I have the shell, but no insides
And all the things I’m all about…
That never fell to fire, flood or doubt
Are gone so I can keep on dreaming
Dreams with no words, and much less meaning.

Writer’s block, just with lock imagery… and I just thought the photo was cool. It’s for the flash animation I’m making for this poem.
Hmmm, that’s a good suggestion… It rhymes, too, if it’s pronounced “ope-ning” (2 syllables), but not so good “o-pen-ning” (3 syllables). Maybe before I record the poem, I’ll practice on my family and see which they prefer.
If only my uni course made my writing better… unfortunately karyotyping, counting drosophila flies and making a polymerase chain reaction don’t help much with poems. *Sigh*… well, I hope they don’t… no one wants genetics imagery in their poem!
First the pic. Would you believe the very first picture i took, with my very first camera was of a padlock and the sliding latch thing.
Everybody thought i was an idiot, just wasting film. But, i have always looked for the ’something different.’
Perhaps, i was the Edward De Bono of the 1960’s. Then again, the sixties were more like rock and roll and other stuff for me.
Sought of a bit prejudice really. There are all kinds of people in the world- fat and thin etc, and accordingly, chromosones come in all shapes and sizes as well. It would seem that some cells are just never happy (that’s if i remember my science correctly)
Hey ! but i do like your poems, and i love your pics

Hehe… wow, that is cool. Everyone must have been secretly jealous that you were artistic enough to want to take a photo of something other than people smiling and posing!
The great thing about digital cameras is that there’s no such thing as “wasting film”… You can take hundreds of shots, and never worry about the price (except for new batteries).
Wikipedia has just told me that Edward De Bono was a lateral thinker! To come up with such an interesting idea for a career as writing biographies is a very lateral thinking idea.
Ahhh, chromosomes come in all shapes and sizes, but the thing is, everyone has the same different shaped and sized chromosomes in their cells. So chromosomes are really a dramatic metaphor for the basic similarities that unite all humanity, from the micro level to the macro level! Hmmm, I guess there is poetry in genetics…. XD
… Or at least if I run out of depressing metaphors, I can use the one of the chloroformed flies…
Heya. Thanks for the jokes. Brightened up my day. I work at a place were everything is fixed in hindsight as opposed to forward thinking. Still loving your poems. Keep up the good work. Do you write any music?
Hey Chaos
Sadly, i dont think they were jealous. Me thinks, because it was not mainstream thinking, it was ridiculed.
Sadly, again, when people dont understand, they ridicule.
Thanks for the biography praise. But the bio’s are more than that, they allow oldies to never forget their history, and when their memory does shut down, carers, family etc, can prompt them. And of course, when lifes journey has ended, the info in a bio (didnt mean to rhyme) can be invaluable in preparing obits, and memorial services.
Digi cameras, yeah got several. 350 D cannon, quite good, a little back up pentax, which does everything including audio record, panorama, 3D u name it.
Nook is beginning to sound like theChaos theshadow show.
I saw someone at macas the other day looked remarkably like you…?
theshadow
Hmmm, that’s true… writing bios must be such a great job, just getting to know someone and then write about them. You must make heaps of friends.
Heheh… yeah… 130 comments and still no iPod… Oh well, I’ve thought of a couple of questions at least, maybe the next draw will yield something to keep my mind off the black abyss of crushing nothingness swallowing my very soul while I’m on the bus to uni. XD
Yep, if it was Maccas at Eastland on Tuesday, then it was probably me… but if it was Boronia Maccas, then I haven’t been for a week or two. If the person you saw was with a light-brown haired version of themself (my twin sister), or a nice looking dude with red hair (my boyfriend), then it probably was me.
I keep an eye out for you and Shadow when I’m at work (although my eyesight is kind of terrible). Visit sometime and buy a treat for Shadow! We have pigs ears, ecopet and bones… And eye fillet steak!… I kid you not, there are some lucky pets in the Boronia area… o.0
… And thanks, mattl, I appreciate it! (And I’m super glad you didn’t find those jokes offensive… a few people have before.)
Hopefully once enough about your workplace is fixed it’ll be more employee-friendly… I guess every workplace has flaws to be ironed out.
Unfortunately I don’t write music… I love listening to music, but in order to make it you have to learn how to write music, buy the instrument, go to classes… all too much trouble for me.
Hi Lady Chaos,
I’ve been reading your poems and they are really good - you are very talented. ever thought about writing songs?
cya!
Aww, thanks!
I would love to write songs, but I’d need someone to make the music first. I don’t know the first thing about making music. But if I had a tune, and time to sit down and write I’m sure I could write some awesome lyrics.
Song lyrics are a lot of my inspiration… some of them are absolute genius!
