Live music in the outer east?
Published 1 year, 11 months ago in Entertainment.Does anyone know any venues that play live music on a Friday night in the outer east?
E.g. Boronia, Ferntree Gully, The Basin, Bayswater, Scoresby, Belgrave, Ringwood, Box Hill, Mount Waverley, etc. NOT in the city.
The music I’m looking for is rap, metal, rock, hip-hop, pop, goth or alternative, preferably something with singing/vocals of some kind.
I’m looking for something affordable (e.g. less than $15 entry, preferably less than $10), and not the kind of venue where people will call names or make it a bad experience.
Please help! I’m 19 and have never seen live music before. I just don’t know where to start or where to find this info.

Chaos, why dont you organise one yourself.
theshadow.
PS theshadow would have come until he saw the bit about rap, metal etc. He is an old muso from way way back.
PPS Any value in knighting theshadow - Sir Shadow
Awww… me organising a live music event would be like someone who had never seen a movie trying to write and direct a movie… (also I’m horribly lazy and just want to be entertained).
I have diverse tastes in music; rap and metal are just part of it. And don’t just listen to the rap that they have on the radio, the best is by independent groups. Swollen Members are a group from Canada, they have fantasy/sci-fi/dark themes in their cleverly rhyming rap, and they have much less of the guns, drugs, bling and hoes type thing going. They have actual music…. if you like “Pressure” by Billy Joel, they do a fantastic rap to the tune.
What music does Sir Shadow like?
Hi
you should try Rubies in main st Belgrave, always something going on there and then the aztec bar just over the road
G’day Lady Chaos, to answer you’re question..
There are quite a few ways to find out about the bands/venues….
One is, go into your local library, if it’s Mill Park, either just inside the door or also inside at the far end on a table, they have a free magazine (Tip: you’re looking for something about the size of a newspaper) it’s called inpress, that lists venues with all the bands playing.. Gig guide is in the last few pages of it.
Also online go to beat magazine, google it. It’s the same sorta thing as inpress.
These are great places for you to start!
you also see these mags just inside the doors of surf shops, fashion stores, music shops, must be heaps near your place somewhere, you’ll find em…….
Thanks so much! I’ll follow your advice… I hadn’t thought of the Library… that is a great idea.
